THE ELITE STORY

AND SO IT BEGAN...

"My journey into the fitness and nutrition world began as I sat in a nutrition class at the start of yet another semester.  I knew both my undergraduate and graduate collegiate programs were necessary to build the foundational knowledge needed to be successful in the field.  However, throughout my years invested in studying the field, there was always a fire burning inside me to hit the ground running and open a gym.

You always hear people say "chase your passion" and you wonder how many people actually do that.  Well on that day spent sitting in my nutrition class, I decided that I wasn't going to "chase my passion", rather I was going to "live my passion".  That was the day that Elite Sports Performance was born"

BOBBY'S STORY...

Growing up I had an extreme passion for athletics and competition.  I participated in every sport imaginable early in my sporting career.  As I entered high school I decided to focus all my efforts on football and continued to play early into my college career.

I first fell in love with strength and conditioning my freshman year of college as I had a rare opportunity to train under a great football strength and conditioning coach.  The more I was around him, the greater my passion grew.  I started reading every book and article I could get my hands on - I even got caught several times reading training and nutrition articles in classes like art history, sociology, etc!

While in grad school, I received very valuable experience working in the Kent State Exercises Physiology Lab. Being a a part of the

Kent State Exercises Physiology Kent State Exercises Physiology Program really opened up my eyes to the research side of things.

I started Elite because of my love for training and nutrition, and although I still love the training and nutrition side of things, it is the relationships that my team and I have formed with our athletes and members as well as the ability to have an impact on their lives outside of the gym that I've truly grown to love."

BOBBY'S STATS:

AMBER'S STORY...

Being a part of Elite has allowed me the opportunity to help young girls reach their full potential.

I started lifting at 9 years old.  As a huge Mia Hamm fan, I always had dreams of playing professional soccer.  After reading Mia Hamm's book "Go for the Goal", I started chasing my goal of going pro.

I knew the only way to go pro was to not only be the best soccer player, but also the the fastest and strongest player, but also be the fastest and strongest player on the field.  Although my goal of going pro changed as I got older,  I did have the chance to play soccer at Walsh Jesuit, where I was part of 2 state championships and 1 national championship.  I then received a scholarship at Wright State University where I was the starting forward during my 4 years.

My speed and strength helped me greatly in my journey.  I never considered myself the most technical soccer player, but being strong on the ball made me capable of holding my own at a division-one level.  I also felt it had a huge impact on getting me through all 4 years of soccer injury free.

Following undergrad, I chased my other dream of becoming a doctor.  I recently received my doctorate from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and I am currently completing my residency at the Cleveland VA Medical Center.

AMBER'S STATS:

JOHN'S STORY...

"Growing up I participated in football and basketball while attending Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School.  While at NDCL I played quarterback and was part of a team that made it to the state playoffs.

After high school, I decided to attend Lake Erie College on an athletic scholarship for football where I earned captain honors and finished second on the team in tackles as a redshirt freshman.  Unfortunately during my junior season, I suffered a shoulder injury that forced me to hang up the cleats earlier than expected.

Following my injury I decided ti was time to make a change.  Seeing that my football career was up, I decided to transfr to The Ohio State University where I would pursue my bachelors degree in nutrition.

I've always had a passion for sports performance - whether it be training, nutrition, recovery, mind-set - you name it, I'm all in.  Anything to help you better yourself is something that I am all about.  I love using my passion and knowledge to help others reach their goals and guide them to success."

JOHN'S STATS:

  • BACHELORS DEGREE IN NUTRITION (OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY).

NICK'S STORY...

I have been a Lake County resident my whole life where I attended Mentor High School and then went onto attend Lake Erie College.  While at Mentor I played football where we had back to back state championship game appearances.

After I finished my high school career, I decided that I wanted to continue playing football at the collegiate level.  I was fortunate to earn a few division one scholarship offers; However, I chose to attend Lake Erie College to stay close to home near my son, Brody.

While at Lake Erie, I played defensive back, but had my career cut short due to several concussions.  My time with the Storm didn't end there though as I decided to stay with the team and coach defensive backs and linebackers.

While coaching football, I began to get interested in the training and nutrition side of things.  Because I couldn't play anymore, I decided to devote my energy in learning everything I could to help my teammates better themselves, both physically and mentally.

I spend a lot of time in the weight room at Lake Erie and gained very valuable "in the trenches" experience.  I knew nutrition plays a large role in performance and health and went on to earn two nutritional certifications - one through Precision Nutrition and one through the International Sports Science Association.

NICK'S STATS:

  • BACHELORS DEGREE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE (LAKE ERIE COLLEGE).

  • CERTIFIED AS A SPORTS NUTRIONIST THROUGH THE ISSA

  •   CERTIFIED AS A PRECISION NUTRITION LEVEL 1 COACH  THROUGH PRECISION NUTRITION

Brittany Persaud – Mindset Development Specialist

Brittany’s Story…

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences - Exercise Science at Wright State University while playing for Wright State University women’s soccer team. After graduating from Wright State, I moved overseas to pursue my dream of being a professional soccer player. While I was overseas playing professional soccer, I received my Master of Science - Human Movement Sciences (Sport/Sports Psych) Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

I still am an active athlete and currently competes within the WPSL (second division for women’s soccer in the US) and also compete internationally for Guyana. I am also certified as a Performance Specialist through EXOS. I currently am a Candidate in the Sport and Performance Psychology Doctorate program at the University of Western States.

Through the years I've developed a deep passion for mindset, talent development, sport psychology, and everything in between. This passion developed through my development as a soccer player - from youth to professional - and living through the difficulties and challenges that come along with that path. It is my hopes to educate, prepare, and provide value to others lives to help them overcome similar difficulties and challenges throughout life and sport that they might come across. Ultimately, I want to help people develop a mindset that will allow them to be successful throughout life, on and off, the field and be better prepared than I was. I struggled and went through that process because I didn't have the best of mindsets and it was a difficult time for me until I learned how to calm my mind and develop a good mindset. Therefore, if I can help other individuals be better prepared to go through those challenges in life, then that for me is success!
