Athletes working on their 💥Power Step 💥 to initiate an explosive 1st step.
The power step involves taking a quick step behind you to get the body moving/accelerating.
Many coaches may coach athletes not to take this step as they consider it a "false step".
However, these coaches are simply wrong (sorry to be blunt).
The power step is needed to get the athletes in the best possible position to accelerate as explosively as possible.
Coach athletes to take this step as powerfully (hence the name) as possible to get them moving quickly.
NOTE: this technique is mainly used when athletes are in a parallel stance (feet side by side) and at a stand still (no movement currently taking place).
