Elite Youth Athlete working to master the walking lunge movement
Lunges are an excellent choice for young athletes (we use them with our older athletes too) as they:
✔️ Improve lower body strength ✔️ Improves body awareness and control ✔️ Reduces risk for injury (by strengthening joint stabilizing muscles) ✔️ Improves balance
Again, with young athletes it is all about establishing GOOD HABITS, so start with body weight lunges and progress to weighted lunges as the athlete develops.
